The Workshop

The Bowery Ballroom hosted an intimate summit for finance professionals, with guest speakers from across the industry. The format prioritized face-to-face connection over the usual conference noise.

My Role

As Art Director for Real Vision's The Workshop, I worked directly with founders Damian Horner, Raoul Pal, and Grant Williams to launch their first finance and business summit. I developed the event's punk rock visual identity and led design across print banners, social, and web. On event day, I directed the photography team and shot alongside them.

Planning & Approach

The founders' love of punk icon Sid Vicious shaped the event's look and feel. The style fit The Bowery Ballroom, a cornerstone of NYC music history. Presenters got rock star treatment, attendees got a VIP backstage experience, and a professional team photographed it all. An after-party with a live band closed out the night.

The Creative Director, the Events Team, and I scouted the venue together to plan print placement, lighting, and layout.

Reflections

This project let me work both sides, concepting and designing in advance, then photographing live. We delivered under budget, though more promotional assets would have extended the campaign's reach. It confirmed how much I enjoy running live events end to end, and I'd take on more work like this through future workshops, performances, and trade shows.
