Real Vision LIVE

Event Branding, Art Direction, and Photography

Finance and business summits.

The event at The Bowery Ballroom was a unique and intimate experience for finance professionals, featuring special guests from the world of finance and business. Attendees had the opportunity to connect with industry leaders, gain insights into the latest trends, and establish valuable contacts. The event was meticulously planned and provided face-to-face interactions that are often missed in the digital world. Overall, it was a great success and a memorable experience for all attendees.

My Role

As the Art Director for Real Vision's The Workshop, I had the opportunity to work closely with the companies Founders - Damian Horner, Raoul Pal, and Grant Williams - to create the first of many finance and business summits. My responsibilities included developing a motif for the event logos and visuals, which we decided would be centered around a Punk Rock theme. I led the conceptualization and design efforts for this motif and supervised the design team to ensure that all the assets were created to the highest standard. This included everything from large-format printed banners to social media and web campaigns. On the day of the event, I managed the photographers and directed them on shot placement while also contributing my own photography skills as part of the team.

The Challenge

To organize a one-of-a-kind live event with a $35,000 per ticket price tag and a restricted, 100-person guest list in under 2 months.

In this compressed time frame, the team worked together in contracting vendors, identifying a live band, and creating large format printed, social, and email campaigns.

Planning & Approach

The founders’ love of 70's punk idle Sid Vicious drove the development of the look and feel of the event. This punk rock style aligned well with The Bowery Ballroom given its long history as a cornerstone of NYC music. We aimed for the presenters to feel like rock stars and for the attendees’ experience to emulate that of a VIP backstage pass. Each presenter was photographed by our professional team. To complete the experience, we hosted an after-party with a live band.

Under the guidance of the Creative Director, myself, and the Events Team, we scouted the venue space for the best placement for print materials, lighting, and event layout.

Reflections

This event allowed me to flex my leadership skills while being part of a great team. I especially enjoyed having a dual role in concepting and designing the event in advance and in photographing the event in real time. We did a great job under the budget we had, but I wish we could have included various promotional assets and activities that may have further added to the experience. My work in this event highlighted how I enjoy and thrive in concepting, designing, and implementing live events and I hope to do so again through partnering in future workshops, performances, and trade shows.
